QUESTION ABOUT HEALING

A mother and father have a small child that is in the hospital in critical condition. They pray over their child, and have friends that also pray for the healing of their baby. The baby makes a full recovery. Should the family give glory to God for the health of their baby? Should they shout to the world that God healed their child?

Another mother and father have a small child that is in the same hospital at the same time as the first child. This child is also in critical condition. They pray over their child, and have friedns that also pray for the healing of their baby. However, the baby does not survive. How would they react to the first family praising God for healing their baby? Would they seriously doubt that God had anything to do with healing the other families child?

What is the difference in these two families?

The Lord alone knows. It may also be presumptious on our part to conclude that the Lord had a direct hand in either situation though we certainly tend to give thanks to the Lord when good things come to fruition in our lives and not so much when we are hurt or when we think life is unfair, etc.

Personally, it sickens me when preachers respond in such a way as to suggest that "only the Lord knows why He took your child ..." This is not a comfort to a grieving parent. The very best we are equipped to do is to share their tears without trying to overthink the situation.

    Good post!
